Privacy Policy

What data we collect

DealRadar collects minimal data necessary to provide the service:

• Product search queries: The name and type of product you're viewing (e.g., "Sony WH-1000XM5 Headphones") is sent to the SearchAPI API to search Google Shopping. No product URLs, personal identifiers, or browsing history are included.
• Country/region: Detected automatically from the shopping site you're on (e.g., amazon.co.uk → GB). Used only to return prices from local retailers.
• Account information (optional): If you create a DealRadar account, we store your email address and a hashed password via Supabase. This is only required for Pro features like email alerts.
• Watchlist data: Stored locally in your browser by default. If you're signed in, your watchlist is optionally synced to our Supabase database so it's available across devices.

What data we do NOT collect

• We do not collect your full browsing history or which sites you visit.
• We do not track which products you click on or purchase.
• We do not collect your IP address beyond what is standard in any HTTPS request.
• We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking.
• We never sell your data to third parties.

Local storage

The following data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API and never leaves your device unless you choose to sync:

• Your watchlist (products you're tracking)
• Cached price results (30-minute cache per product URL)
• Your notification email preference
• Your Pro license key (if unlocked offline)
• Your auth session token (if signed in)

Third-party services

SearchAPI: We use the SearchAPI API to query Google Shopping. Each price search sends a product query and country code. See SearchAPI's privacy policy.

Supabase: If you create an account, your email and account data is stored with Supabase, a secure hosted database provider. See Supabase's privacy policy.

Permissions used by the extension

• storage — stores your watchlist and settings locally
• activeTab / tabs — reads the current page URL to detect the product and your region
• notifications — shows browser notifications for price drops on watched products
• alarms — checks watched product prices in the background every 6 hours
• <all_urls> — needed to detect products on any shopping website

Your rights

You can delete all locally stored data at any time by going to chrome://extensions → DealRadar → "Clear site data". If you have an account, you can request deletion of your account data by emailing privacy@dealradar.io.

Children

DealRadar is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be noted in the extension's update notes. The latest version is always available at this URL.
